Privacy Policy

SnapPy ("SnapPy," "we," "us," or "our") is a Python learning app published by Schoolabe. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the SnapPy mobile application (the "App") and related services.

By using SnapPy, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

SnapPy is operated by Schoolabe.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

When you create an account or use the App, we may collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored securely on our servers; we do not store plain-text passwords)
  • Account sign-in method (email/password or Sign in with Apple)

If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and email (or a private relay email) according to your Apple settings. We receive only what you authorize through Apple.

2.2 Learning and app usage data

To provide progress tracking, streaks, badges, and sync across devices, we collect:

  • Cards completed and learning progress
  • XP, streaks, and badges earned
  • Quiz and challenge activity
  • Spaced-repetition / review schedule
  • App preferences (e.g. reminder settings, sound effects)

2.3 Automatically collected information

When you use the App, we may automatically collect:

  • Product analytics events (e.g. screens viewed, features used, decks opened, login events)
  • Session information (session identifiers, timestamps, app version)
  • Device and app information (device type, operating system version, general usage data)
  • Advertising identifiers (where permitted by your device settings and consent choices)

We use this data to improve the App, fix issues, understand usage, and measure performance.

2.4 Notifications

If you enable Concept of the Day or other reminders, we use local notifications on your device. Enabling notifications requires permission through your device settings. We do not need your email for local reminders.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide learning content, progress tracking, and sync
  • Send optional reminders and notifications you enable
  • Show advertisements (to help keep the App free)
  • Analyze app usage and improve features
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-party services

We use trusted third-party services that may process data on our behalf:

4.1 Schoolabe backend (api.schoolabe.com)

We store account data, learning progress, and analytics events on Schoolabe servers to operate the App and sync your progress.

4.2 Google Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how the App is used. Firebase may collect device and usage information. Learn more: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

When you are logged in, we may associate analytics with an internal user identifier to understand logged-in usage.

4.3 Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may use device identifiers and usage data to show and measure ads, subject to your consent and device settings.

In certain regions (including the EEA/UK), we show a consent form before personalized ads. You can manage ad privacy choices in the App settings where available.

4.4 Apple Sign in

If you sign in with Apple, authentication is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

4.5 Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

On supported devices, we may ask permission to track activity across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes. You can decline; the App will still work, but ads may be less relevant.

5. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data based on:

  • Contract — to provide the App and your account
  • Legitimate interests — analytics, security, and product improvement
  • Consent — where required for notifications, personalized ads, or tracking
  • Legal obligation — where applicable

You may withdraw consent at any time through device settings or in-app options, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

6. How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers (hosting, analytics, advertising) who process data under our instructions
  • Legal authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice where required)

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing without your consent.

7. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App.

When you delete your account, we archive certain account information for legal, security, and compliance purposes, then remove your active account and associated SnapPy data from our live systems as described in the App.

Analytics and aggregated data may be retained in de-identified or aggregated form.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account (available in Settings → Delete Account in the App)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Data portability (where applicable)
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

You can also:

  • Turn off notifications in iOS Settings
  • Manage ad tracking via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
  • Manage ad consent via in-app Ad Privacy Choices (where shown)

9. Children's privacy

SnapPy is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and secure authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
